La respuesta tiene profundas implicaciones para el conocimiento del funcionamiento de la mente pero tambi\u00e9n a la hora de tratar enfermedades como la demencia senil, el Parkinson o el alzh\u00e9imer. Algunos estudios se\u00f1alaban la existencia de esa regeneraci\u00f3n solo en las primeras etapas de la vida, pero un equipo de investigadores espa\u00f1oles acaba de demostrar la existencia de\u00a0<strong>c\u00e9lulas madre<\/strong>\u00a0en el\u00a0<strong>hipocampo\u00a0<\/strong>del cerebro adulto, que permiten producir\u00a0<strong>neuronas\u00a0<\/strong>hasta los 90 a\u00f1os de edad. El hipocampo desempe\u00f1a un papel fundamental en el aprendizaje y la memoria, y en la regulaci\u00f3n del estado de \u00e1nimo.
